Bath CC U13s v Heathcote CC U13s – ECB National Club Championship – Regional Quarter Final
After winning against Bagborough to become Somerset County Champions in the ECB National Club Championship, our U13 As faced Devon champions, Heathcote U13s at North Parade on Sunday morning in the regional quarter final of the competition.
Bath batted first and started well with a solid opening stand between Sam Price (13) and Jamie Gearing (18), and then Freddie Stappard contributed with a quick fire 21, and Peter Biggs (17) and Alex Moss (17) helped take the Bath score up to a defendable 131-8 off their 20 overs.
The Heathcote reply saw two wickets fall in quick succession to Bath’s fine opening pace attack – leaving the Devon side 14-2. Then a good piece of fielding from Bath’s Will Blackmore led to a run out to leave the score on 40-3. Heathcote, through R Everill and W Diamond, started to build a partnership that got the Devon side back up with the run rate, but continued tight bowling kept the pressure on to leave Heathcote needing 39 off the last over to win, and the game was Bath’s as Heathcote finished their innings 100-8. Jamie Gearing took three wickets and George Warden took two wickets.
