U13's into National Quarter finals
12 July 2022
Bath CC U13's v Bagborough CC U13's
On a balmy summer evening at North Parade, Bath U13 A’s faced Bagborough CC U13s in the County final stage of the ECB U13 National Club Championship.
Electing to bat first, Bath A’s had a stuttering start to their innings, with two of the top three run-out, and with wickets continuing to tumble, Bath found themselves in the precarious position of 51-6. But both Rhys G (33) and Jack P (18) then came together to put on a run a ball partnership of 34, before Jack was run out. Number nine, George W then strode to the crease and continued the momentum, hitting an excellent and undefeated 29, with two fours and a towering six. Bath’s innings closed on a competitive 136-8.
Bagborough’s top six then struggled with the pace of opening bowlers George W (2-8) and Alex M (4-18), as the Taunton & District league cup champions slipped to 29-6, which soon became 29-7 as Alex M picked up his fourth wicket. The lower order did rally with some powerful hitting, but Bath’s first change bowlers cleared up the tail, to bowl Bagborough out for 59 in the 12th over - to win the match by 77 runs.
This was a great team effort by the Bath side, and they now face Devon champions, Heathcote on Sunday morning at North Parade in the national stages of the competition. The Bath team now firmly have their sights set on trying to make it to finals day in August, where four U13 club sides from across the UK battle it out for the Ken Barrington Trophy.
