Bath CC 1st XI v Frocester CC 1st XI

Bath 1st XI travelled to Frocester on Saturday, and after winning the toss, elected to field first. Frocester made a steady start with the openers reaching 29 before Bath struck trapping Tom Boorman in front for 13. Frocester then had a number of good partnerships, with Jared Warner (48) and Chris Calcott (45) the only batters to get close to a half century. The weather continued to affect the match, and as a result, the overs were reduced to 42 with Frocester finishing on 235-7 from their 42 overs. Bath seamer, Matthew Cadywould picked up 3-26 from his five overs and James Arney 2-44.

Bath’s reply only lasted 2.4 overs as they reached 16 without loss, the rain returned to abandon the match. As a result, Bath only picked up nine points and have now dropped down to second place in Premier One as Potterne CC managed to win their rain affected match against Taunton Deane.

Bath CC 2nd XI v Congresbury CC 1st XI

Bath 2nd XI and Congresbury 1st XI met at North Parade on Saturday in their top of the table clash. From the off, rain affected this fixture with the sides coming on and off throughout Bath’s innings after losing the toss and being asked to bat. Bath lost the in form Campbell McKegg early, but then Bill Simmons (44) and number four, Charlie Rustell (51) got the Bath side into an excellent position at 106-1, but then Simmons was trapped in front, and Rustell soon followed. Ryan Kochupurakal (41*) and skipper, Will Arney (36) made useful contributions, but the Bath innings fell away as they were bowled out for 211 in the 44th over.

Heavy rain returned to North Parade in the break between innings, and there was no further play possible, with the sides sharing the points.

Bath CC 3rd XI v Golden Hill CC 2nd XI

Bath’s 3rd XI was the only side on Saturday to complete their match at the Brownsword Ground. Bath won the toss and elected to put Golden Hill into bat. Golden Hill got off to a fine start with openers Sam Brooks (40) and Romesh Tenuwera (50) putting on 85 for the first wicket. Golden Hill then kept the early momentum going through number three, Simon Hygate (51) and John Colley (32) to post a competitive 226-5 from their 40 overs.

Rain meant that Bath was set a revised target of 216 from 38 overs, but the home side didn’t get anywhere close as they were bowled out for 69 in the 19th over. Only skipper Thiaan Aspeling (34) reached double figures as the 3rd XI picked up just two points from this loss.

Bath CC 4th XI v Stapleton CC 2nd XI

Bath 4th XI travelled to Stapleton on Saturday and won the toss and elected to field first. This initially proved a good decision as opening fast bowler, Alex Moss (3-56) tore through the home sides top order to leave them 47-3. But the middle order - through Andy Jones (36), Ken Gainsford (47), and Omer Basharat (51) ensured that Stapleton reached 218-6 from their 40 overs.

Bath’s reply stuttered to 29-3 from eight overs when the rain once again moved in and the match was abandoned.
