England World Cup winning cricketer returns to Bath CC to support with coaching & mentoring
England World Cup winning cricketer, Fran Wilson is returning to the club to support our coaching and to mentor two junior coaches throughout the year, playing a key role in the development of our young cricketers.
Fran, who has recently retired from England duty, and moved back to the area to play for Western Storm, was a youth player at the club – first joining us as an 11-year-old in 2003. She subsequently coached and mentored young players at the club and within the surrounding community between 2011-2014, before moving to Loughborough to pursue her England career.
Fran will be supporting the club with coaching our young players and mentoring two coaches. Her role in developing young cricketers, includes specialist coaching sessions for elite young players, and supporting the girls cricket coaching programme.
On returning to the club, Fran Wilson said:
“It’s amazing to be able to return to the club which has been so pivotal in my cricketing career and life in general. From 11 years old Bath Cricket Club provided me with a fantastic training opportunity with great coaches as well as a competitive opportunity in boys, girls, and women’s cricket. It is also somewhere I have been able to develop my coaching, not to mention the friends and teammates I have been lucky enough to meet. I’m very excited and grateful to be able to return and be a part of such a brilliant community.”
Jonathan Green, Head of Junior & Community Cricket at Bath CC, said:
“We’re delighted that Fran is returning to the club to support us with coaching young players and mentoring two of our coaches. Having been fortunate enough to watch her development at the club as a young player, then working with her as part of our coaching & mentoring programme, I’ve seen first-hand how she works so effectively with young people. Not only does Fran pass on sound technique, but she is also keen to share her own experiences of how she has tackled challenges in her rise to being one of England women’s most successful cricketers of the last decade.”
