Bath through to National Semi-Final…

31 July 2024

Following Bath’s victory away from home against Teddington, Bath now travel to Essex to play Brentwood CC in the Semi-Final on 18th August.

Overseas player Aidan Cahill dominated the match scoring 95 and taking 3 wickets.

Match Report:

Bath won a closely fought ECB national quarter final away match against Teddington CC 1st XI on Sunday to progress to the semi-finals.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Bath lost opener Jack Scrivens (7) early, and although Ben Church (1) soon followed, Australian all-rounder, Aidan Cahill then dominated the Teddington attack by smashing 95 off just 72 balls as he batted effectively with Charlie Brain (18) to take the Bath score up to 114-3 before Brain was out. Cahill soon followed, and as the pitch became more worn, the Bath batters struggled with the spin and lack of pace, but still posted a very competitive 182 as they were bowled out in the last over of this 40 over competition.

Teddington’s reply was immediately in trouble when they lost opener Chris Wakefield for a duck to the bowling of Cahill. Bath’s bowlers then applied the pressure, particularly through Josh Sutton (2-25) and Matthew Cadywould (2-30) to restrict the scoring and regularly pick up wickets. With Teddington 111-6, Bath looked in control but a spirited knock of 56 from Joe Ludlow took the home side close. However, fittingly it was Cahill (3-37) that returned to the attack to pick up two further wickets and put the match out of the home side’s reach as he bowled a tight last over for Bath to win by 9 runs as Teddington reached 173-9. Bath’s semi-final opponents will be Brentwood CC, who they will meet away on Sunday 18th August.
