Bath CC 4th XI v Patchway CC 1st XI
Bath CC 4th XI travelled to Bristol to play Patchway CC 1st XI on Saturday.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat, Bath lost three quick wickets to young seamer, Casey Hull (4-17) to leave the away side 11-3, but Freddie Stappard batted positively firstly with Sam Simmons (22) and then Alan Alex (24), to first past his half century and then record an excellent maiden senior cricket century for Bath. Stappard was eventually out for 114 having taken the Bath score up to 181-6. The lower order then ran well between the wickets to take Bath’s score up to 199-9 from their 40 overs.
Patchway struggled from the start against Bath’s opening bowling attack, and slipped to 19-4 as Thiaan Aspeling (3-11) was particularly effective. Bath’s spin duo, Jack Pippett (2-30) and Alan Alex (2-15) then applied the pressure whilst picking up regular wickets to leave the home side 69-8. Chandana Kariyapperumage (2-0) then picked up the last two wickets off his solitary over as Patchway were bowled out for 69, to leave Bath winning by 130 runs.
