Bath CC 4th XI played hosts to Keynsham CC 3rd XI on Saturday at the Brownsword Ground.

After winning the toss and putting Keynsham into bat, the away side started solidly before George Warden bowled opener Syd Arblaster for 13. Fellow opener, Tom Kennedy (83) and Matt Curzon (45) then batted well together before Andy Daughtrey (37) and Jack Tweedie (22) helped take Keynsham up to 238-6 from their 40 overs. Bath bowlers, George Warden (3-44) and Mathan Balasubramaniyan (2-33) both bowled very effective spells.

Bath’s reply started positively before Sam Price (10) was trapped in front. Sam Simmons (4), Thiaan Aspeling (1), and skipper, David Pippett (15) soon followed before Luke Welsh (36) and Mathan Balasubramaniyan (31) batted positively together to take the home side up to 83-5 at the midway point in the innings. But when both batters departed, although Allan Alex (36*), George Warden (18) and Beth Aspeling (13) took Bath past 175, the home side were eventually bowled out for 178 in the last over of their innings to lose by 60 runs.
