Bath CC 4th XI lost in the last over of a very closely fought match against Keynsham 3rd XI on Saturday.
After losing the toss, Bath were asked to bat first and started solidly through openers Thiaan Aspeling (24) and Will Blackmore (14), but then slipped from 41 without loss, to 41-3. However, Alex Moss (47), Mathan Balasubramaniyan (24) and Allan Alex (52*) combinedto take the Bath score up to 181-5 from their 40 overs.
In reply, Keynsham took few risks against the tight Bath bowling as they built a solid opening stand. But when skipper, Ian Kiebelkorn (46) was dismissed by young off spinner, Jack Pippett (1-33), the match looked nicely poised to go down to the wire with over 100 runs still required from the final 17 overs. As the run rate required passed seven an over, Bath still looked in the match but some lusty blows from Zach Mabey (35*) and Kevin De Beer (19*) took the home side to victory in the last overof the match to win by eight wickets.
