Bath CC 2nd XI v Old Bristolians Westbury CC 1st XI

Bath 2nd XI played hosts to Old Bristolians Westbury CC 1st XI on Saturday at North Parade.

Although Bath won the toss and elected bat, they lost Henry Allen (14) and Josh Norgrove (12) to leave the home side 39-2. Campbell McKegg (4) then went soon after, but Kester Moseley (20), Bill Simmons (35) and Charlie Rustell (23) then combined well as skipper Will Arney led from the front with an undefeated 60 to take Bath’s total up to a defendable 205-7 from their 50 overs.

Old Bristolian’s reply was hampered by an excellent opening spell by Ben Chapman (2-24) as he removed both Ross Whyte (11) and Sajan Rana (0) in two balls to leave the away side 15-2. Ben Jarman then batted effectively with Robert Cunliffe (19) to add 66 runs before Cunliffe was trapped in front to leave Old Bristolian’s 81-3, which soon became 92-4 as Connor Crane (5) departed. With over 100 runs required and 25 overs to be bowled the match was nicely in the balance, but as Ben Jarman was removed for 68 and Josh Sutton picked up 3-27, the away side had slipped to 161-7 with only six overs left to score the 46 runs required for victory. However, Jino Jojo (27*) and George Harris (17*) smashed three sixes as they chased down Bath’s total with just four balls to be bowled to win by three wickets.
