Bath CC 2nd XI v Bradley Stoke CC 1st XI

Bath 2nd XI played hosts to Bradley Stoke CC 1st XI at North Parade on Saturday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Bath started solidly to reach 38 without loss when Henry Allen (11) was dismissed. Fellow opener, George Axtell and Kester Moseley then built a 135 run partnership before Moseley went for 65. Axtell continued to bat well with Charlie Rustell, before he became Bradley Stokes third wicket, out for an excellent 81. Rustell soon followed for a rapid 40 as the middle and lower order helped get the home sides total up to a very competitive 256-6 from their 50 overs.

In reply, Bradley Stoke were immediately in trouble as they slipped to 39-2. This soon became 73-5 as Bath’s spin duo, Will Arney (5-23) and Harry Allen (3-75) combined well to run through the away sides middle and lower order with only Ash Baber (51) showing any serious resistance as Bradley Stoke were bowled out for 163 in the 39th over of their innings. Unfortunately, Bath 2nd XI’s 93 run victory doesn’t save them from relegation.
