Bath CC 1st XI v Lansdown CC 1st XI

Bath 1st XI lost their local derby match against Lansdown 1st XI at North Parade, in a rain affected fixture.

In a match that was reduced to 40 overs a side, Bath were asked to bat first, and through openers Jack Scrivens and Aidan Cahill, the home side raced to a 78 run partnership off just 14 overs, but then Scrivens went for 25 and Cahill went the very next over for a run a ball 52. Number three, Ben Church (27) then continued to bat positively, but when he was trapped in front, a succession of wickets tumbled before Will Arney (20) and Louis Brown (16) put together an important partnership before the home side were bowled out for 183 in the last over of their innings.

Rain affected Lansdown’s run chase, as the away side were set a revised target of 140 from 25 overs. Although Lansdown slipped to 95-5 and still needed a further 45 from the last five overs, some strong batting from George Scott (42*) and Sam Pearce (17*) took Lansdown to victory with nine balls still to be bowled. Bath’s lead at the top of Premier One has now slipped to just two points over Bridgwater CC.
