Bath CC 1st XI kept their unbeaten season intact in Premier One with a strong away win against Bishopston CC 1st XI on Saturday.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Bath got off to a fine start with openers, Jack Scrivens and Ben Church putting on 46 before Church was bowled for 18. Scrivens continued to dominate the bowling as he was eventually the second batter out for a run a ball 66, which included four sixes. Bath then slipped from 107-2 to 135-5, but both skipper, Tim Rouse (35) and James Arney (40) helped take Bath up to 213 All Out with one over still to be bowled.
Bishopston’s batters were immediately under pressure from the start of their reply, as they quickly fell to 17-2. This set the tone for the home teams innings as only two batters, Alby Stevens (16) and David O’Brien (31) made double figures as Matthew Cadywould ripped out the heart of the Bishopston batting order, as he picked up 5-18. Eventually, the home side were bowled out for 88 in the 25th over of their innings, so that Bath recorded a 125 run win. Bath retains its 30 point lead at the top of the West of England Premier One League.
